Evidently, my last posting has generated various polemical views about the propriety and relevance to politics that an artistic portrayal of a "hetaerae" represents on a political blog . In response to the multitude of expressed specific concerns in regards to this matter I would like to succinctly elucidate it.
Sex since ancient times has been used as a form of political warfare.
Cleopatra VII of Egypt was an exceptionally seductive and educated woman who employed her sexual appeal to seduce Caesar and consolidate her political power. Both Caesar and Mark Antony were so enchanted and enamored with Cleopatra that they defied all opposition and rational political behavior to pursue Cleopatra's dream of recreating Alexander the Great's empire. Caesar was assassinated, while Mark Antony committed suicide when he lost to Octavian at Actium.
Anne Boleyn who become Henry VIII second wife succeeded in eliminating Henry's first wife Catherine of Aragon at a time in history when divorce was totally prohibited by the Catholic Church. Henry loved Anne so much that he broke away from the Roman Catholic Church and declared himself the supreme leader of the Church of England. To marry a woman Henry changed the religion of an entire country! Wow!
During the presidency of John F. Kennedy female companions entertaining the President at times within the perimeters of the White House, some were speculated of being KGB agents while others linked to organized crime leaders as Sam Giancana . Such was, Judith Campbell believed to be the common mistress of JFK & Giancana. There is no conclusive evidence to support these theories. Suffice is to say that John F. Kennedy engaged in numerous extramarital affairs that generated serious concerns about his character and judgement.
Presidents have access and are privy to information that involves the national security of the country. It is irresponsible and unthinkable for a President and any public official of the United States to act so irresponsibly.
I would like to state clearly that is not a democratic issue or a republican issue. It is an issue of national security when politicians engage in this type of unethical behavior.
In this respect I can only admire President Obama's responsibility and commitment to family values.
So, yes it is the constituents' business to express their concern about unethical sexual conduct when it comes to politicians. Considering the fact that we entrust them with our lives , well being and tax money. It is only normal to ask questions. For an honorable man never betrays his wife,ot the trust of his electorate.
Elected officials need to think in terms of country first! Not , sex first! Whereas private citizens as Tiger Woods are entitled to all the latitude dictated by their conscience when it comes to sexual behavior provided that it does not violate any law. In the case of Tiger Woods one can postulate that sex was a employed as a weapon of economic warfare .
Thank you, for all your comments. Difference of opinion is the essence and soul of democracy and progress. To those of you that made unattractive comments I am willing to overlook them if you vote republican! Just kidding . NOT! A multi party system is imperative for the survival of democracy.
So, republicans and democrats let's meet for a cocktail and work together for the greatness of America!
