Jan Schakowsky: Charles Rangel is “my leader”

Jan Schakowsky: Charles Rangel is “my leader”

July 30, 2010

NILES, IL-
A newly discovered YouTube video reveals the close ties between Jan Schakowsky and Charles Rangel, chair of the House Ways & Means Committee, who is currently facing serious ethics charges.

The video was uploaded by the National Black Leadership Commission on AIDS (NLBCA) on March 20, 2010 (Clip:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiv6mam60oE Original source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJCinVtyGVc).

It contains footage of a speech Schakowsky gave at an NBLCA event on Capitol Hill on March 17, 2010--two weeks after Rangel was forced to take a “leave of absence” as chair of his committee on March 3.

In her speech, Schakowsky honored “my leader, Charlie Rangel” and said: “People may look to see how I vote, but that’s ‘cause I look first at how Charlie’s voting.”

Schakowsky’s support for Rangel dates back several years. Long before Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats took over the House of Representatives, Schakowsky began pushing for Rangel to be appointed to chair his committee when power changed hands.

In an article she published in The American Prospect in October 2005, Schakowsky wrote*:

“Think about what it would mean for progressives if Nancy Pelosi were House speaker and congressional committees were chaired by people like George Miller, John Conyers, Charlie Rangel, and Henry Waxman.”

Later, when Rangel’s tax evasions were first revealed, Schakowsky voted to retain him in his position as chair of the committee that writes the tax laws.

She voted “yes” on House Vote 759 on October 7, 2009, which defeated a Republican effort to remove Rangel from the chair of the Ways & Means Committee. (Source:
http://politics.nytimes.com/congress/votes/111/house/1/759)

On Wednesday, July 28, Schakowsky told the Don Wade & Roma show on WLS-AM that Rangel’s fate was “a tragic situation,” and suggested that the voters, not Congress, should be the ones to take action against him.

Schakowsky failed to come clean about her past support for Rangel, and her refusal to do anything about his ethics violations.

“Jan Schakowsky has made clear that she votes as Charles Rangel votes,” said Joel Pollak, who is challenging Schakowsky in the 9th congressional district of Illinois in the upcoming November election.

“The people of the 9th district do not want another Charles Rangel in Congress,” Pollak added. “We need a representative who will fight corruption instead of promoting it. We need a fresh start.”

*(The 2005 article was likely ghostwritten by Schakowsky’s husband, convicted felon Robert Creamer. In the article, Schakowsky writes: “As my mother used to tell me, ‘Stand up straight.’” In 2006, Creamer wrote a political manual in prison entitled “Listen To Your Mother: Stand Up Straight! How Progressives Can Win,” which he claimed was inspired by his own mother, to whom he attributed the quote and dedicated the book.)

66 Percent

Posted by Chicago GOP in Untagged

Chicago GOP

Dear Friends:

Yesterday, the governor’s budget director revealed the Quinn-Giannoulias solution for Illinois’ budget crisis: a 66% state income tax hike.

Earlier this year, Alexi Giannoulias said Illinois needed a tax increase – he just didn’t say how much.  Now we know.

The Quinn-Giannoulias tax hike would make Illinois even less competitive and put our economic recovery at risk.  But it’s not too late to stop them.

Watch Congressman Kirk speak about the Quinn-Giannoulias tax increase

You can send a strong message to Alexi Giannoulias and his plan to raise taxes by contributing to our campaign today.

Let’s turn the page from the failed Quinn-Giannoulias policies and restore fiscal discipline to Illinois.

Very truly yours,

Mark

Dold: Seals’s Support for Higher Taxes Will Not Get People Back to Work

Dold:  Seals’s Support for Higher Taxes Will Not Get People Back to Work

Dold Opposes Tax Hikes that Would Stunt Economic Growth and Increase Unemployment

Winnetka, IL – Today, Tenth District Congressional candidate Robert Dold denounced his opponent Dan Seals’s six-year record of supporting tax increases that will hurt families and small businesses.  Next year the largest tax hike in history will hit Americans if Congress does not act to stop it.

“Dan Seals supports the largest tax increase in history,” said Dold campaign spokesperson Kelly Klopp.  “This is the worst possible time to raise taxes, yet for six years Seals has stated his support for higher taxes.”

1.      A Seals for Congress press release dated December 5, 2009 says “Dan has continuously opposed the Bush tax cuts.  He believes they are unfair and should be corrected.  In fact, he has repeatedly called for Congress to roll back these cuts.”

2.      A 2008 Daily Herald article says, “Seals also said he would roll back most of the Bush tax cuts…” (Rivals Outline Economic Ideas, Daily Herald, January 12, 2008)

3.

4.      In a 2006 newsletter by the 10th Congressional District Democrats, Seals said, “We have to roll back the Bush tax cuts.”

“Robert Dold opposes any income tax hike because higher taxes would hurt families and small businesses,” said Klopp.  “What Seals fails to understand is that a majority of small business owners pay taxes on their businesses through their personal income tax form, and so personal income taxes are often the same thing as small business taxes.”

Klopp continued, “Seals calls himself a ‘business consultant’ yet fails to have a basic understanding of how small businesses work.  Tax increases would be a fatal blow to many small businesses, just at the time we are relying on small business to pull the country out of recession.”

Hey Daley and Weis- when is enough enough?

Posted by Peter Bella in Untagged

Mom of slain 13-year-old: '22 holes in my baby's body'

When is enough enough?  Mayor Daley and his incompetent, fancy pants, supercilious sycophant, Jody Weis, cannot answer that question.  Oh they blather on casting blame on others, society, the FBI, poverty, parents, aliens, a lack of trees, a dearth of flowers, no wrought iron fences, not enough blue recycling cans, guns, guns- and did I mention guns?

When are they going to unleash the police.  Take the handcuffs off, put a moratorium on the ridiculous rules, and stop this madness.  When are they going to support and back the police and let them do their jobs.  Tough times call for tough people and tougher actions.  Weis has all the information he needs about the gangs and drug cartels causing these killings.  He is sitting on it with his fancy pants.  He can start dismantling these enterprises right now.  He refuses.  So does our Malaprop mayor.

How many more children must be killed?  How many more off duty and on duty police officers must be killed.  How many families have to suffer because of Daley's and Weis's indifference and apathy?  This is war!  You do not fight a war with words, community organizers, and activists.  You fight a war with tough people, tough tactics, and rough justice.

When is enough enough?  We need a mayor who really cares.  We need a real police officer as Superintendent of Police.  We need police officers to flood these areas of gangs and drugs and go to war.  These gangs and drug dealers are urban terrorists.  We should treat them as such.

Business to crush Democrats. It's war!

Posted by Peter Bella in Untagged

Peter Bella

Democrats may be going out of their way to say they aren’t anti-business, but business is gearing up to demonstrate that it’s anti-Democrats — at least when it comes to members of the party’s liberal wing.

Business is fighting mad and fighting back.  They are tired of the McCarthy like tactics of the Democrats.  They are tired of Democrats having one hand out for campaign cash and using the other to stab them in the back.  Business is turning blatantly hostile towards the Democratic Party, especially the progressive and liberal wings.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has already vowed to invest $75 million in the mid-term elections...“You could spin the wheel of industry and probably not land on a number for an industry that doesn’t believe they have been kind-of attacked by this Congress... the chamber will support some pro-business Democrats, ... the chamber’s members “are looking to us and others to try and help reset the composition of the Congress.”

Hundreds of millions of dollars are being set aside for advertising and donations for the November elections.  139 million has already been spent.  There is going to be a nuclear explosion of money come November.  This will only spell further trouble for incumbent Democrats, who are reeling from voter dissatisfaction, disaffection, and a throw the bums out attitude.

This is a call to arms.  It is war.  Business has made it known- enough is enough.  If the Democrats can have an enemies list, so can business.  The Democrats have done more to destroy business and jobs in two years than any group has done at any other time in our history- including the Great Depression.

With this kind of money and this kind of backing, the Democrats are in mortal fear.  Good.  They should be afraid.  Very afraid. We need real, substantial change in this country.  Since 2006, the Democrats have created financial ruin.  The have devastated the greatest country in history.  Along the way they have eroded our liberty and freedom.  The time is now.  We are here.  Let us eliminate this scourge from our midst.

Republican Whip Eric Cantor: White House Door Suddenly Open For Businesses, It's Been Vilifying

Posted by Chicago GOP in Untagged

Chicago GOP

It's pure soap opera. After a year and a half of battering the business community, the Obama administration attempts to woo it back with a round-the-clock charm offensive. It would be mildly entertaining if the issue weren't so dead serious.

For much of President Obama's term, it was convenient to vilify businesses when the White House needed a bogeyman to help pass its legislative agenda (see health care, financial reform). But now the administration and Democratic leaders in Congress have a mighty political predicament on their hands.

They have spent unprecedented sums of money — piling onto an increasingly unsustainable debt burden — yet have very little to show for it.

Anemic private-sector job growth has spurred top administration and House Democratic officials to issue dire warnings about their party's fate in the upcoming fall elections.

Meanwhile, the private businesses America relies on for job creation are making clear that the hostile rhetoric and anticompetitive policies emanating from Washington have been a severe disincentive for hiring more workers.

That's why the administration now comes crawling back. The White House has hosted some of the most prominent business leaders over the past month. It has pledged "an open door" and solicited their input and ideas. Meanwhile, top representatives of the White House have made their rounds on financial television and Sunday talk shows to put a business-friendly gloss on the administration's controversial economic program.

The problem for the White House is that its PR push is not backed up with any substance — and words are no substitute for deeds. How could anyone construe this as a sincere effort to encourage new investment and job creation — or, much less, to reassure businesses of all sizes that they won't be hit with massive new tax hikes at the end of the year?

Businesses won't simply forget the damage done over the past 18 months. Amid a historically sluggish economic recovery, the Obama administration has pursued cap-and-trade, card check, health care mandates and burdensome financial regulation.

Beyond the uncertainty relating to taxes, business owners of all sizes don't know what to expect from the next wave of government regulations. Investors and lenders, who are essential to getting credit moving again, don't know what the new rules will be and cannot calculate their return on investment.

As a result, according to the Federal Reserve, U.S. businesses are sitting on top of a record $1.8 trillion in cash — dollars that could translate into droves of jobs if only pulled from the sidelines and invested.

Pat Quinn hates you!

Posted by Peter Bella in Untagged

Peter Bella

That's right.  Pat Quinn hates you!  He hates everything about you.  He despises the people of Illinois.  Pat Quinn, who is responsible for the abysmal financial crisis in Illinois, is going to raise your income taxes by 66% in January, if he is elected.  Note this well.  This is no emergency tax increase.  It is due to his irresponsible, reckless, and inept handling of our finances.  Pat Quinn has advocated for an income tax increase since 2005.  He believes, like the cruel kings of old, that the people should pay and suffer for wanton, cavalier, and  reckless actions.

"Illinois, which is in its worst financial position ever, will raise the income-tax rate in January to address its deficit, Governor Pat Quinn’s budget director said... “We’re going to pass a tax increase in January,” Vaught said. “We expect it is going to be substantial.”

What does this mean?  It means more money taken out of your paycheck.  It means you will have less take home pay.  It means you will have less money to spend on necessities.  It means more taxation for your employers- possibly leading to more unemployment and business failures.  It means disaster.  It is a hate crime of monumental proportions.

Pat Quinn hates you!

If Pat Quinn cared, he would have the political will and courage to cut the waste, fraud, corruption, and mismanagement from the budget.  He would tell the special interests to take a hike.  Quinn would tell Cullerton and Madigan he will not spend money allocated for non-essential services.  He would eliminate all non-essential services from the budget.  He would issue an executive order canceling the All Kids Program, which he and his predecessor pushed for.  This has created billions of dollars in unpaid debt to doctors and meidcal institutions.  It was executed by executive fiat with no funding.

Pat Quinn hates you!

Pat Quinn only believes in spending, borrowing, and raising taxes to satisfy the voracious appetites of the combine;  the special interests who fund his campaign.  His multi-billion dollar infrastructure plan was a boondoggle for contractors, unions, and vendors.  It was not put in place to help you.   It is another boodle plan to further our fiscal demise.  The state is broke.  Where is  the money coming from?

Pat Quinn Hates You!

Why, in God's name, would anyone vote for such a hateful, spiteful, wanton, and reckless individual.  Pat Quinn plans to perpetrate the worst hate crime in Illinois.  The victims will be the hard working people and businesses.  Pat Quinn hates you!  Stop the hate.  Stop the evil.  End the hate.

Vote for Bill Brady.

Minutes from the Chicago Republican Party Central Committee Meeting

Posted by Chicago GOP in Untagged

Chicago GOP

Committeemen,

Thank you to all committeemen who attended for Pizza and Politics at Giordano’s last night.    It was fun!  We had a great turn out!

A presentation was given detailing procedures for recruiting judges of elections, changes in procedures regarding judges of elections, and legislative changes in election laws.

The following are some of the points covered:

  • Election Judges. The last day for Committeeman appointment of Election judges is 9/20/10.  After that the Board must accept over the counter applications.
  • Precinct Polling Assistants will be in use again this year.  Applications will be available starting on August 25, 2010.
  • Voter Registration.  The last day for voter registration is October 5, 2010. Any mailed registration applications postmarked on October 5 will be considered timely.  If a voter misses October  5, there is a short two week grace period to register, but it can only be done in person at the Board of Elections office at 69 West Washington or the three university polling places.  The registrant must immediately vote at the site.
  • Early Voting.  Early voting will be from October  12 through October 28, 2010, 9am to 5 pm.    There will be 54 sites across the City, including UIC, Chicago State, and Northeastern University.   The Ward polling places will not be open on Sunday, but the three college polls will be open.
  • To be an Election Judge for Early Voting you must agree to serve all the days your polling station is open, from 9am to 5pm, in effect becoming an employee of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners for two and one-half weeks.  Please contact Patty Battista on applications.
  • Absentee Ballots.  In a big change, no excuse at all is required for an absentee ballot application.  Military and overseas voters can apply online to receive an absentee ballot.  It will be sent to them electronically, but they must mail the ballot back.  The legislature refused to extend the electronic bit to submission of the actual ballot.
  • Quinn Amendatory Veto.  Governor Quinn engaged in an amendatory veto to eliminate the procedure of a primary voter declaring a ballot preference to the judges.  Under the Quinn proposal, the voter will get a ballot of all the parties, and fills out one, returning the rest.  There is some question on whether the amendatory veto was proper, and Commissioner Cowen predicts that it will not be passed by the Legislature.
  • Special  Senator Election.  It will happen on November 2, 2010 because of the Constitution, and the recent Court of Appeals ruling.  The November ballot will have TWO senate races on it, one for the 60 days or so of the remaining Obama/Burris term, and one for the new six year term.  The details have yet to be approved, but it looks like the State Central Committees are going to be given the power to slate candidates for the rump term.  It is expected that each party will slate their current nominee to keep things simple.  So Mark Kirk and Alexi Giannoulias will appear twice.
  • Constitutional Amendment on Recall.  This referendum to amend the State Constitution to add recall will be on the November 2 ballot.  But the recall provision approved by the Legislature only applies to the post of Governor.  The Illinois proposal tracks the procedure in California.
  • Primary Date Changed Back.  Beginning in 2012, the Illinois Primary will revert to its March date.   Some wanted a later date to shorten the election season, but were defeated in the Legislature.  Also, ballot petition dates will move back in time at least 14 days, to give the challenge process more time.  Keep an eye out.
  • Changes in Ballot Access Challenge Cases.   In a major change, the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners have been given additional jurisdiction, to hear all challenge cases involving State Rep. or State Senate candidates in all of Cook County, regardless of whether the district includes any part of the City of Chicago.   A challenge case in a completely suburban district will still be heard by the Chicago Board.  Also, appeal in a challenge case must be made to the Circuit Court in FIVE DAYS, down from the current TEN DAYS.
  • Governor / Lt.  Governor.  Beginning with the next election for Governor, candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor in a party primary must run as a team.  No individual candidates will be allowed.

Hard copies from the Chicago Board of Elections are available in the office.  Contact Executive Director Peter V. Bella if you need them.

Executive Director Peter Bella raised a few business points to close the meeting.

The Chicago GOP has Voter Vault access with February Primary information loaded.   Committeemen who want printouts of “R” voters in their wards should contact Pete Bella.   The Voter Vault printout will have most, but not all phone numbers of Hard or Soft Rs for Committeemen to call for volunteers and Precinct Captains.

A short discussion was held on recruiting volunteers and precinct captains.

We would like to meet with Committeemen individually at the Blackhawk office to discuss their Wards, their election effort, and their volunteer and precinct captain efforts.  Each Ward is different, and each Committeeman faces different challenges based upon geography, demographics, and experience.  Some will need a lot of advice and help, some not.   Pete will be looking to schedule sessions in the next two weeks.

The Chicago GOP would like to move the monthly meetings around the City, to various Wards.  Requirements are a big enough room, some off street parking, and a relatively inexpensive menu.  If you have a spot in mind in your Ward, please contact Pete Bella, who will make the arrangements.   We are also thinking of establishing a set monthly date, like the last Tuesday or first Wednesday or such, but may start that after the Election.  One other option is an occasional Saturday morning meeting.

We have been working on two projects involving minority outreach.  One for the Hispanic community and one for the African American Community.  Both of these projects have required some hard work, overcoming obstacles put in our way, and very delicate negotiations.  We are very close to a final determination on them.  If the Hispanic project is approved, Chicago Republican Party Headquarters will be the Chicago Hispanic Republican Outreach Center.  Negotiations are still in progress and we hope to have a final answer very soon.

The project for African American outreach is progressing slowly and is still in the negotiation phase.  Like most political activities there are many different factions to satisfy.  We are working hard to bring this to fruition.

Both of these projects, if executed, will go beyond November and into the 2012 election cycle.  These projects will further enhance the Chicago Republican Party as the Republican presence and home in the City of Chicago.

Social event:   We will be planning a social event at the Blue Star Wine Bar on the 1200 block of Noble in the next 45 days.  Other events are in planning for the Fall.

August meeting details will be forwarded when a location and date are set.  Election 2010 efforts will be the big topic.

REMINDER:
Bill Brady is having a grand opening at his Chicago Campaign Office today.
Location: 1201 N. Clark St. (Enter on Division)                                    Time:        5PM-7PM                                     Complimentary Drinks and appetizers will be available next door at Butch McGuires

Quinn Budget Director: We Will Raise Taxes in January

Posted by Chicago GOP in Untagged

Chicago GOP

Illinois Democrats plan to raise the state income tax by 66 percent in January, Governor Pat Quinn's budget director has told Bloomberg Businessweek.

“We’re going to pass a tax increase in January. We expect it is going to be substantial,” Quinn budget director David Vaught is quoted as telling the national business publication.

Vaught said an increase from the current 3 percent to 5 percent is likely. It would cost taxpayers $6 billion and would be the largest tax hike in Illinois history.

In 2009, Democrats in the Illinois Senate approved a similarly-sized tax increase, but the House has not acted on that increase. It's unclear from Vaught's remarks if he was referring to that increase – which could yet be passed by the House – or if he was referring to a new proposal.

Senate Republicans have consistently said raising taxes would hurt consumers and could have a deadly effect on job-creation at a time when Illinois is already suffering from some of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. Republicans also point out that any tax increase, without core reforms to state government, will only offer temporary relief and lead to even more tax hikes in the future.

Dold: Seals Attends Conference of Extreme Liberal Activists Who Push for More Government Spending

Seals Participates in Liberal Netroots Nation Convention with Pelosi, Reid, and Al Franken

Winnetka, IL – Today, Tenth District Congressional Candidate Robert Dold denounced opponent Dan Seals’s participation in the extreme, left-wing Netroots Nation, a conference of 2,100 liberal activists in Las Vegas founded by the writer of the left-wing Daily Kos blog.

“In Las Vegas, Dan Seals tells liberal bloggers what he knows voters in the 10th District don’t want to hear:  he supports more stimulus spending and the public option for health care,” said Dold campaign spokesperson Kelly Klopp.

“These liberal activists are completely out of step with the moderate values of the 10th  District, yet for the six-years Seals has run for Congress he has been in lock step with Netroots Nation,” Klopp said.

Seals was named a 2008 Netroots All-Star.  (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/christine-pelosi/netroots-all-stars-need-y_b_114130.html)

Seals not only attended, but was a panelist at the 2007 and 2008 Netroots conventions .

Seals is a blogger for the extremely liberal Daily Kos, and has a “Seals for Congress Diary” on the Daily Kos website right now.

Tears of a clown

Posted by Peter Bella in Untagged

Peter Bella

Dick Durbin once again reappeared.  For those who do not know who he is, Durbin is one of two senators from Illinois.  You rarely see him or hear from him.  Except, of course, when there is money to be raised, his election to be won, or when he is debasing and dehumanizing some imagined political enemy.  Some times he issues a press release about a tax paid safari to Africa- to study things having no relation to Illinois.

With phony crocodile tears welling up in his eyes, he begged the Director of the FBI to do more about stopping the violence on the streets of Chicago.  Tears rolling down his cheeks, begged him to stop illegal guns.   They were more like the tears of a clown.

Where has Dick Durbin been all these years?  Dick Durbin is part of the problem- one of the reasons the violence has escalated out of control.  The Chicago Police have been rendered helpless.  The FBI can only do so much.  They are an investigative agency, not a police agency.  Investigations take time, sometimes years.

Dick Durbin, like his beloved Democratic Party, hates police officers and love criminals.  He and his party are responsible for passing laws that literally handcuff the police, keeping them from doing their jobs.  He and his party are responsible for enabling and molly coddling gangs and drug dealers.  They are the pro-criminal party.  Dick Durbin recently advocated for reducing the sentencing guidelines for drug dealers.  Who put up the campaign cash for that?  Dick Durbin takes campaign money from so called social justice lawyers who make millions suing police and municipalities- and demanding federal indictments of police officers,  Dick Durbin is the best friend street gangs, drug dealers, and criminals ever had; along with his moll, Congresswoman Maxine Waters.  Durbin also voted to approve Eric Holder as the United States Attorney General.  Holder is another anti-law enforcement activist and enabler of criminals.

The Democratic Party has done everything to enable urban crime in America.  Instead of passing tougher laws against these organized criminals, they have passed tougher laws against law enforcement.  Police officers are afraid of being sued or indicted by their own government for just doing their jobs.  Thanks to people like Durbin and Holder, it is easier to put a police officer in prison for perceived civil rights violations than it is to put a gang leader in prison for real crimes.  With friends like Dick Durbin in the Senate, law enforcement does not need any more enemies.

There is only one way to stop the violence.  Dismantle the gangs and drug cartels in Chicago.  Go after them with a vengeance and a passion unrivaled since the days of Capone or Accardo.  Treat these enterprises like organized crime was treated.  Make them fear arrest, like our police officers do.  Make them fear walking the streets.  Make them fear, period.  Make them pay dearly.  Of course that will not happen.  Unlike traditional organized crime, the gangs and drug dealers are mostly minorities.  Can't have those phony charges of racism can we?  Can't have neighborhoods and communities besmirched.  The people and developers would not like that.  We also can't have dead gangbangers and drug dealers in the streets.  It is OK to kill police officers and children.  Just do not kill a gangbanger or drug dealer.

These gangs and drug dealers are now the size of armies.  They are urban terrorists.  They are self made weapons of mass human destruction.  They have been allowed to breed like vermin and have become a pestilence in our city.  It will take tough measures and tough people to exterminate them.  It has gotten to the point that open warfare may be the only answer.  That is how big the problem is.  All thanks to those kind, caring, fuzzy brained, bleeding heart progressives, like Dick Durbin.

Save your alligator tears Senator.  You should get your money back from the acting classes you took.  There is no Academy Award in your future.  If you want to see the cause of violence in our city, look in the mirror.

Politico: Like Illinois, Giannoulias in Serious Debt

Posted by Chicago GOP in Untagged

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0710/40348.html

For Illinois state Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias, this year’s Democratic Senate primary isn’t dead and buried – financially, it isn’t even past.

Giannoulias, already facing questions about his fundraising after bringing in less than $900,000 for his general election campaign last quarter, finished June with more than $200,000 in debt left over from a competitive fight for the Democratic nomination.

The candidate owes a total of $208,438 to vendors and staffers, according to his most recent Federal Election Commission filing. Over $61,000 of the debt is owed to consulting firm Adelstein Liston, which produces Giannoulias’ television ads. Another $41,450 covers unpaid bonuses to staff members and consultants left over from the primary.

It’s not uncommon for candidates to emerge from contested primaries with campaign debt. In Kentucky, Democratic Attorney General and Senate candidate Jack Conway owed $331,000 at the end of last month, including $250,000 to himself. In Indiana, Republican Senate candidate Dan Coats owes himself $200,000 after putting personal resources into his late-starting campaign.

Giannoulias has held onto his debt for months now, though: the Illinois primary was the first of the year, back in February. And his fundraising contrasts sharply with Republican nominee Mark Kirk’s. The congressman raised $2.3 million last quarter and ended June with $3.9 million in the bank compared with $1 million for Giannoulias.

Kathleen Strand, a spokeswoman for Giannoulias, said the campaign would pay off its debt “in due time” and waved off concerns about its financial position.

“We’re confident we’re going to have the resources we need to compete,” she said, adding that Giannoulias had experienced “a real surge of momentum in fundraising” amid a string of campaign appearances by White House officials including Vice President Joe Biden and senior adviser David Axelrod.

President Barack Obama is due in Chicago for a Giannoulias fundraiser on Aug. 5. Obama’s former campaign manager, David Plouffe, headlined an event for Giannoulias this week.

Robert Dold Launches Second Radio Ad

Winnetka, IL - Tenth District Congressional candidate Robert Dold launched the campaign’s second radio ad this week.  The 60-second ad titled “There is a Better Way” began running on Chicagoland radio this week along with the first ad called “Meet Robert Dold.”

“Meet Robert Dold, candidate for Illinois 10th Congressional District.  He thinks Congress is headed in the wrong direction, and he wants to do something about it.”

“I was born and raised in the 10th District.  I run a business here.  And this is where my wife Danielle and I have chosen to put down our roots and raise our three children.  As a business owner in the 10th District, I believe Washington is taking us in the wrong direction.  I employ just under a hundred people, which to me is a hundred families.  And that is an awesome responsibility and one I take very seriously. Washington is taxing and spending us to the tipping point.  They make it harder and harder for me to put the key in the door and open up our business each and every day. They’re not listening.  We have to focus on creating private-sector jobs, on reining in the out-of-control spending.  There is a better way.  I believe we can create that private-sector growth and move our country forward.  But I need your help.  I’m Robert Dold and I approve this message.  Please join me.  Go to doldforcongress.com.  And let’s get back to work.”

Illinois GOP Chairman: Pay-to-Play Still In Play?

Posted by Chicago GOP in Untagged

Chicago GOP

As jurors begin deliberating the fate of former Governor Rod Blagojevich, Illinois State Republican Party Chairman Pat Brady today questioned whether pay-to-play politics is still part of Governor Quinn’s game plan.

“Campaign finance disclosure reports now available show us that Pat Quinn received more than $500,000 from two labor unions which benefited from the unprecedented, heavy-handed intervention of his Illinois Department of Transportation into the labor dispute with private road contractors,” Chairman Brady said.

“Did Governor Quinn inappropriately use his influence on their behalf - reminiscent of the pay-to-play politics already on trial in Illinois and driving up costs for taxpayers? I think it’s a legitimate question to ask,” Chairman Brady said.

Quinn received $500,000 in a late June fundraising scramble from the Operating Engineers and Laborers unions. In mid-July IDOT Secretary Gary Hannig effectively threatened contractors to force a settlement. In its July 19 letter to the Illinois Road and Transportation Builders Association, IDOT announced it would “take steps” including re-bidding the contracts, imposing penalties for missed deadlines and imposing Project Labor Agreements which would have re-started the contract.

“Despite its claims, IDOT was anything but impartial,” said State Senator Kirk Dillard (R-Naperville), a leader in ethics reform and who made transportation and road projects a center-piece of his campaign for governor earlier this year. Dillard noted the pattern emerging with Governor Pat Quinn is strikingly similar to that of Blagojevich, Quinn’s two-time running mate.

“In recent weeks, we’ve seen extensive media coverage of abuse,” Dillard said. “Pat Quinn took $75,000 from the Teamsters and then vetoed a bipartisan agreement on McCormick Place in order to benefit that union. He’s been flying around the state – and according to reports – campaigning on the taxpayers’ dime. Now campaign finance reports show he’s getting a half million dollars – or more -- from labor unions which benefitted from his apparent intervention into a labor dispute.”

Chairman Brady added that Quinn is tone deaf when it comes to Illinois taxpayers. “It’s sickening that citizens could again be subjected to the same pay-to-play politics that rocked Illinois. This certainly seems like an abuse of power and it’s got to stop.”

Like most folks in this country, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes & the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit.
In order to get that paycheck, in my case, I am required to pass a random urine test (with which I have no problem).
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test.
So, here is my question: Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their BUTT----doing drugs while I work.

Can you imagine how much money each state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check?
I guess we could call the program "URINE OR YOU'RE OUT"!
P.S. Just a thought, all politicians should have to pass a urine test too!

Another Stroger Appointment on the Backs of Taxpayers

July 27, 2010

Dear Friends:

Earlier today, in another direct insult to the county taxpayers — Todd Stroger and his administration put forth yet another campaign official from their failed primary campaign to join the county payroll as a $60,000 paid labor consultant.

It is high time for the Stroger administration to stop granting political favors by placing former campaign workers in high paid roles on the backs of the taxpayers.

I invite you to watch my brief video update below:

In the closet?

Posted by Peter Bella in Untagged

There is this guy.  He really hates other guys. Not, those guys, the guys who run things.  Those are the guys he hates.  He also hates some popular guys.  Guys who beat him in elections.  As a matter of fact, this guy hates everybody.  You know the guy I'm talking about.  No, you chumbalone, not dat guy, the udder guy!

He is smearing Illinois GOP State Chairman Pat Brady- calling him a crooked lawyer and a slime ball.  He keeps referring to Cook County GOP Chairman Lee Roupas as a Greek American- as if that is something evil.  Why does this guy hate Greeks, Greek Americans, or Americans?  A better question is why does this guy hate everyone who is not him?

He ran for Congress in Florida under the campaign to Eliminate Jew Power in America.  He has smeared his opponents, and candidates he does not like, as child molesters or made accusations of them being gay- in the worst homophobic terms.

He is a guy who was refused a law license in Illinois for his erratic personal behavior.  He is described as a vexatious and frivolous filer of lawsuits- many filings having anti-Semitic rants.  In his various and vexatious legal motions, he has referred to judges and the legal community in degrading Anti-Semitic terms.

He claims to have private investigators at his beck and call to unleash on unsuspecting people.  Supposedly they dig for the truth.  In reality, who knows?  This guy has a massive ego driven imagination.   He may be divorced from reality.  On Sunday, he held a pres conference in Chicago with a lamp post.

Who is this guy?  Andy Martin, aka Andy Martin Trigona.  He bills himself as the "Internet Power House".  He claims to be factually correct, not politically correct.  Mr. Martin claims to be the dean of Illinois Media and Communications.  Martin has a "moderately severe character defect manifested by well-documented ideation with a paranoid flavor and a grandiose character."   Which is why he was refused a law license in Illinois.

Martin is nothing more than a legend in his own mind.  He has a very severe unrealistic hang up over other people's alleged sexual proclivities.  Recent history has demonstrated that people are who so overly and overtly obsessed with the sexual proclivities of others, especially child molestation or homosexuality, usually are closeted sexual deviants themselves.  What is Andy Martin hiding in his closet?  Hmmmmmmmmmmm?

Unfortunately, people like Martin exist in all political circles.  They are the fringe element.  The do as I say, not as I do element.  They publicly blast sordid accusations against others, while living their squalid secret lives.  So, Mr. martin, what secrets do you have?  What or who is hiding in your closet?  Inquiring minds want to know?

Or, are you just a lonely guy, who bitterly approached middle age with nothing to show for your worthless venomous life.  You bash he-ing and she-ing, he-ing and he-ing, and she-ing and she-ing.  Maybe you are just me-ing and me-ing.

Brady Will Defeat Quinn. Land of Lincoln or Land of Corruption?

Posted by Lumi Boldovici in Untagged

Lumi Boldovici

Land of Lincoln or Land of Corruption?

There was a time on this land where a man named Lincoln walked miles to return a few cents to an overpaying costumer.  Additionally, when he was young Lincoln partnered with an unscrupulous business man who skipped town and left Lincoln with a massive debt. Nevertheless, Lincoln took the debt upon himself and although it took him years to pay the debt off. These are two examples that earned Lincoln the title of "Honest Abe".

This is the man who was at the heart of the Republican Party, one of its architects who saved our country and ended slavery. Postulation: the land of Lincoln is where it all began for the Republican Party. A party built on the principles of equality, freedom and yes honesty!

Honesty, a virtue that has been excluded from public office  in Illinois for quite some time. Thanks, to the Democratic Party, Illinois and especially Chicago is known today not as "The Land of Lincoln" but "The Land of Corruption"! The Chicago way is another epithet assigned to our state, where pay to play reigns.

Imagine Blagojevich walking or jogging miles to return money...or make a real Senate appointment...Blago was an amateur of "pay to play". Looking at the way the health care votes were bought in Washington one can see why Blago lagged behind. Perhaps, if Blago would have worked more than nine hours per week, things would have been different for our state.

One thing is clear it, is the duty of the Illinois Republican Party to restore people's confidence in government by ending the endemic corruption that plagues our state which by now   has spilled over to Washington.  By restoring and enforcing a two party system in Springfield and making the office of the Governor relevant. Now is the time for the Governor to make Illinois -- The Land of Lincoln.

Bill Brady has the potential to do that. The political climate is favorable to republicans, for the electorate got sick of democrats picking their pockets by perennial tax increases. In fact, Brady is ahead in polls and has a war chest greater than Quinn's. Which is quite an accomplishment considering the fact that Brady started fundraising late. It took until March to confirm his nomination due to a close tie to Kirk Dillard.

My concern is not the office of the Governor, but the Mayor's office and the Speaker of the House's Office. This political triumvirate runs Illinois.  For the Governor to be effective we need more republican state senators, a bi partisan speaker of the House and a Republican Mayor.

Brady will definitely win but his effectiveness and success as a governor depends on bi partisan support and a strong republican party!

This time we will take our state back!

Closing Arguments Over; Deliberations Next

The prosecution tossed jurors a light-hearted moment during closing arguments Tuesday. Assistant U.S. Attorney Reid Schar said Blagojevich’s defense could simply be summed up as “I didn’t do it, and if I did it, I didn’t mean to do it.”

Schar encouraged jurors to use their “common sense” as they consider the evidence, the tapes and the arguments presented at trial. The defense, meantime, tried to portray Blagojevich as a buffoon.  “No one’s going to say he’s the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he’s not corrupt,” said attorney Sam Adam, Jr.

Schar countered that it was Blagojevich who held up a Medicaid rate increase for Children’s Memorial Hospital in exchange for a hefty donation from Children’s head Patrick Mcgoon.  Schar quotes Blago as saying, “I’m doing Children’s Memorial Hospital for $8 million, I want him for $50,000.”

Jury deliberations are expected to begin Wednesday.

Quinn's half-truths and distortions

Posted by Chicago GOP in Untagged

Chicago GOP

Dear Friend,

After being forced to take down their first campaign ad, Pat Quinn’s tax and spending allies at the Democratic Governors Association are at it again, misleading voters with yet another ad that distorts the truth, and offers no ideas for fixing the fiscal mess on the Governor’s watch.

Voters already know Brady voted to expand mammogram coverage for women in Illinois (HB1881 /PA90-0007), and that Illinois has had a Family Medical Leave Act since 1993.

Now, in yet another misleading ad, Pat Quinn’s smear machine in Washington is attacking Bill Brady for voting against a death tax* that hurts small business owners and family farmers in Illinois, while spending millions of dollars to protect the same Governor who proposed a 50 percent tax hike - just six weeks after being sworn in!

When it comes to the minimum wage and creating jobs, the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board has already called for a “reality check” on Governor’s shameless attacks, saying:

“…If the goal is to put more Illinoisans to work — can we assume that's the goal, Gov. Quinn? — then Brady is on the more defensible track.”**

The record is clear.  Bill Brady offers real solutions, and tells the truth about the tough choices ahead to get Illinois back on track.  Pat Quinn’s plan?  Change the subject, and hope we don’t notice.

We need supporters like you to help spread the word - Pat Quinn's attacks will not create one, single job in Illinois. We won't solve our fiscal crisis by electing Pat Quinn.  It's time to stand up for taxpayers against big government.  Its time get Illinois working again!

If you agree, please forward this email to ten of your friends and neighbors.  Let them know we're less than 100 days from Election Day, and we need every voter in Illinois to stand with Bill Brady and get our state back on track!

Daddy's little girls

Posted by Peter Bella in Untagged

Peter Bella

The Blagojevich family has finally proven they have no decency or shame.  They have finally sunk to the bottom of the barrel, amongst the foul dregs.  The brought their well and expensively dressed and accessorized children to court yesterday, pimping them in front of the jury.

There had to be an intimidation effect on the prosecution.  Just imagine if the prosecution dramatically and passionately bashed, slammed, and denigrated Blago as a crook, liar, and thief.  Imagine a whining seven year old breaking down in tears, bawling out "stop being mean to my daddy".  The fourteen year old running from the court room in tears, clutching her pink Coach purse.  Heels clacking in the floor.  Oh, the drama the jury could have seen- and felt.

Rod and Patti Blagojevich would do anything and use anyone- including their own children- to get him off the hook.  They would pander to emotions if it would do some good, tear at the heart strings.  If it takes psychologically abusing their children, so what?  It is all about Rod.  After Rod, everyone else comes first.

This was a shameless, cruel, shrewd, and calculated move on Blagojevich's part.  Trying to portray himself as the doting, loving, daddy to two little princesses.  The fawning mother hugging the youngest.  The hard nosed political aunt brandishing a sippy cup, in case it was needed by the seven year old.

Hopefully, the jurors are smart enough to ignore and see through this low life facade.  Hopefully they can make an informed decision on the facts and the applicable law.  What ever the outcome of this case, one thing will stand out.  It has been the best soap opera or reality show this year.  There should be some type of award created, some gold or crystal statue.  Maybe the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate Award.  Rod andPatti can share it as best performance by lowlifes.
